CMS Announces TRAIL Annual Open Enrollment Period for 2018

The following is taken from the CMS TRAIL website:

The TRAIL Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period for the 2018 plan year will be October 16 – November 16, 2017.  Informational seminars will be held statewide to give eligible retirees and survivors an opportunity to learn about the Total Retiree Advantage Illinois (TRAIL) Program.  Topics will include eligibility criteria and an explanation of the benefits provided through the Program.
The seminars will begin October 10th and will go through October 19th. A list of the 2017 seminars dates, times and locations will be forthcoming.  Representatives from the Department of Central Management Services (CMS), the Medicare Advantage plans being offered in the area, and Silver Sneakers will be present to answer your questions.

If you are unable to attend in person, you can view a recording of the October 16, 2017 seminar (forthcoming).  A PowerPoint slide presentation will be made available.

Retirees and survivors who became eligible for the TRAIL Medicare Advantage Program over the past year (i.e., became eligible for Medicare between October 2, 2016 and October 1, 2017) should receive a letter (printed on yellow paper) in mid-September notifying them of their eligibility and the requirement to enroll or opt out of the coverage during the TRAIL Open Enrollment Period.  All newly eligible for TRAIL should receive a TRAIL Open Enrollment packet the first week of October.  All currently enrolled members should receive a flyer notifying you of any plan changes.
