 2019 Fall Forum

The annual fall forum was held on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, in the Student Center West (SCW) of the UIC campus.  The program was entitled “Don’t Leave a Mess for Your Family: Basic Instructions.”  Professional and personal perspectives on the need for wills and estate planning — regardless of age — were presented.

Chicago attorney and philanthropic adviser Charles Slamar discussed “The Three Most Important Questions the Best Estate Plan Will Answer.”  Arlene Norsym, UIC SUAA board member and retired UIC associate chancellor for alumni relations, spoke from her own experience, “And All the Other Questions Your Family Wish They Had Asked You.”

2019 Annual Meeting

The annual meeting was held on April 1, 2019 at the UIC Student Center West.  The business meeting, including election of new officers, was followed by a presentation by S. Jay Olshansky, UIC Professor of Epidemiology, entitled “Lifespan vs Healthspan.”  A video of his presentation may be viewed on the chapter’s YouTube channel.  Attendees enjoyed a delicious luncheon afterwards.  Thanks to chapter programs director Karen Scherman and social director Debbie Matthews for making the arrangements for a successful event.  Outgoing President Brenda Russell‘s annual report may be read here while 2nd Vice President William Peterman‘s annual legislative report may be read here.
